Cathie Brayley New Tax Partner at Bennett Jones
Bennett Jones, the Canadian Corporate Law Firm, has hired Catherine Brayley as a corporate tax partner. Here is some information about her:
Cathie provides advice on taxation issues related to mergers, acquisitions, corporate domestic tax planning, trusts, personal tax and estate planning and compliance issues. Internationally, she advises on tax planning issues related to investments by Canadians in foreign jurisdictions and by non-residents of Canada in Canada. Cathie has extensive experience in resolving disputes at the audit and appeal levels within the Canada Revenue Agency and the Ontario Ministry of Finance.
Cathie is a frequent speaker at conferences for the Canadian Tax Foundation, Federated Press, Insight, Canadian Institute, Strategy Institute, and continuing education programmes for the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada and Certified General Accountants.
A member and past chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Tax Section, Cathie also and served as co-chair of the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Ontario Tax Conference. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
In 1999, Cathie was awarded the Arbor Award by the University of Toronto in recognition of her voluntary service contributions. She is a director of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (Ontario chapter), and a former director of the Canadian Mothercraft Society and St. Michael’s College Alumni Board of Directors and other charities.
