Duff & Phelps hires Dan Peters (KPMG) and Steve Salvati (Lucent)
Duff & Phelps, a leading provider of independent financial advisory services, announced in March that Dan Peters joined the firm. Mr. Peters, formerly the managing partner of KPMG’s Global Transfer Pricing Services practice, will lead Duff & Phelps’ Transfer Pricing practice. Mr. Peters was recruited to build the Duff & Phelps global transfer pricing team and infrastructure to serve the firm’s multi-national clients.
At KPMG, Mr. Peters led the global transfer pricing business since 2004, and both transfer pricing and valuation services in the United States since 2000. Mr. Peters was a member of KPMG’s Global Tax Executive team and the U.S. Tax Leadership team. Mr. Peters has assisted numerous large, multi-national clients with a broad range of international and state transfer pricing initiatives. Mr. Peters’ areas of expertise include transfer pricing planning in connection with the valuation of intangible assets, supply chain planning, treatment of services and stewardship and development of effective global documentation. He has been consistently named as a "Leading Transfer Pricing Advisor" and "Highly Recommended" in client surveys conducted by International Tax Review in recent years.
Duff & Phelps also announced that Steve Salvati, formerly Tax Counsel for transfer pricing at Lucent Technologies, has joined the firm. Mr. Salvati has 34 years of international tax and business experience that he leveraged in leading the development of Lucent’s transfer pricing function and process over the past 10 years. While at Lucent, Mr. Salvati led a "best practice" approach to transfer pricing.
"We are very pleased that Dan and Steve have joined us to lead the continuing build-out of our transfer pricing practice," said Noah Gottdiener, Chief Executive Officer of Duff & Phelps. "Dan’s experience as a transfer pricing consultant with KPMG coupled with Steve’s unique skills and perspective leading the transfer pricing function within a large multi-national will be extremely valuable to our clients in managing complex transfer pricing issues." Mr. Gottdiener added, "Duff & Phelps has an ideal platform to provide high-quality, global transfer pricing services to our clients. Our network of client relationships with the finance and tax departments of major corporations-the primary users of transfer pricing services-is unmatched outside of the Big Four accounting firms."
Gerry Creagh, President of Duff & Phelps, noted, "There are significant synergies between valuation and transfer pricing services, both within our firm and from the client’s perspective. As Duff & Phelps is the leading provider of independent valuation services in the world, unhindered by the conflicts that other firms face in serving their clients, we are uniquely positioned to compete in this market and will look to differentiate our transfer pricing practice with respect to quality, scope and nature of service."
