Ernst & Young appoints new National Head of Tax
Ernst & Young has announced the appointment of Paul G. Davies as National Head of Tax from 1 July 2006. He will be succeeding Aidan O’Carroll, who has held the role since 2002. Paul was previously Head of Tax and Managing Partner for Ernst & Young’s Industrial and Commercial Office (ICO). In addition to his national role he will be heading up tax for Ernst & Young in Northern Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (NEMIA), reporting to Mark Otty.
Paul says: “I am pleased to be given the opportunity by the new Ernst & Young leadership team to lead not only our national tax practice but the entire NEMIA. Our tax practice is experiencing excellent growth in a market facing unprecedented change and challenges, and Aidan O’Carroll has played a pivotal and dynamic role in that success. With the current tax environment in perpetual change, my focus will not just be on the national picture but on the wider international situation as well.”
Aidan O’Carroll has been appointed Ernst & Young’s Global Tax Leader for Client Service and Accounts and will be responsible for the global tax approach on Ernst & Young’s major clients. Based in London he will continue to work with several UK based multinationals.
Aidan says: “Paul has done a terrific job in our Industrial and Commercial Office. As National Head of Tax and Head of Tax for NEMIA he will have a key role as we continue to evolve our tax practice to be focused on clients and industries whilst also developing market leading specialists in the areas that matter most to our clients. I know that he will make a great success of this key growth area for Ernst & Young, and I am looking forward to working with him and other country and area leaders to ensure we bring the highest levels of innovation and service to our clients.”
