Tracy Wood, EY’s youngest ever partner receives accolade
Tracy Wood of Ernst & Young has been named as one of Britain’s brightest young businesswomen in Management Today’s prestigious ‘35 women under 35’ list. The magazine compiles the list every two years, profiling the nation’s most inspirational women to watch in their chosen commercial field.
Born in the US and brought up in Lancashire, Tracy is the youngest ever Partner in the history of Ernst & Young. A specialist tax adviser based in Manchester, Tracy was 28 when she was made a Partner last July, just four years after joining the firm.
Tracy said: “I am flattered to have been named alongside such accomplished women; it is a huge honour. Part of my success has been down to all those around me who have invested time and effort in my development; this is an achievement that I and the wider team can be very proud of. I am incredibly lucky to be part of a team where people are top of the agenda.”
She is passionately committed to her work, joining the accountancy profession aged 18 after spurning the offer of a place at Cambridge University. Tracy qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999 and obtained her Institute of Tax (ATII) qualification the following year after joining accountants Lathams in Manchester as a trainee in 1995.
An inspirational leader with infectious enthusiasm and a strong desire to win, Tracy has the firm belief that her team can achieve whatever they put their mind to. The success of the tax practice in Manchester, which has seen double-digit growth in the current year, is testament to that belief.
An active member of the business community, Tracy continues her commitment to the growth of new talent outside of work. As a Director of ProManchester, an organisation that aims to bring business opportunities to Manchester Professionals, Tracy encourages young professionals to network early on in their careers.
Mark Otty, Chairman of Ernst & Young says, “I am delighted for Tracy and for her colleagues at Ernst & Young in Manchester that she has received this recognition. It is a just reward for an exceptional and inspirational talent as well as a great team player.”
