Anglo Irish recruits new tax director in IOM
Mike Addison has been appointed tax director at Anglo Irish Trust Company Limited. Born and raised in Canada, Mike joins Anglo Irish from Ernst & Young in Vancouver where he specialised in tax planning for mergers and acquisitions and in advising clients on wealth management and estate planning.
A graduate in political science, from McGill University, Montreal, Mike went on to gain an LLB from the British Columbia Law School in Vancouver. He was subsequently admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 1996 and was called to the Bar of the Province of British Columbia in the same year. He is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and also of the Canadian Bar Association.
Commenting on his move to the Isle of Man, Mike said, ‘I have always wanted to work in an offshore environment. I was particularly attracted by the opportunity to join Anglo Irish because of the international range of its operations, and the opportunities it offers me to gain more experience of private client work. I’m also looking forward to living on the Island.’
Welcoming him to the company, Anglo Irish Director, Barry Smith, said, ‘we are delighted to have Mike on board. His background as a tax lawyer, and his experience of working for one the largest accountancy practices in North America, will be a considerable asset to the company at a time when we are experiencing unprecedented growth.’
