Mellon Names Two Managing Directors to Lead Private Wealth Management in Southern California

Mellon Financial Corporation has announced that David Emmes has been appointed managing director of Mellon’s Private Wealth Management group in southern California, which comprises offices in Los Angeles, Glendale, Century City and Newport Beach. In this role, Emmes will direct all sales, client and wealth management efforts in the region. Emmes is based in Los Angeles and reports to David Holst, executive vice president for Mellon’s Private Wealth Management group.

In addition, Russell Kartub has been promoted to managing director of portfolio management and will report to Emmes. Kartub will continue serving as portfolio team leader in Mellon’s Glendale office, as well as taking on the additional responsibility for revenue growth initiatives and client service standards for all of southern California.

“David has made significant contributions to Mellon’s rapid growth in southern California, and his proven leadership skills and strong client focus will help us capitalize on our momentum in the region,” Holst said. “Since joining Mellon five years ago, Russell’s collaborative approach and unparalleled knowledge of wealth management have helped ensure that our client satisfaction results continue to set the industry’s standard.”

Emmes has more than 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He most recently was sales manager for Mellon’s southern California region, where he significantly increased sales to make southern California one of Private Wealth Management’s top producing regions. His prior experience includes positions in institutional fixed income and currency derivatives for Security Pacific and Natwest Capital Markets. He also worked with Crosspoint Venture Partners on numerous early stage investments. Emmes earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and MBA from California State University, Long Beach.

Kartub was senior manager of Van Deventer & Hoch Investment Management, a wealth management firm acquired by Mellon in 2001, and has been a portfolio management team leader in Mellon’s Glendale office. He is a member of the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts and the CFA Institute. Kartub received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Occidental College, as well as a graduate diploma from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a CFA charterholder.
