Liquid Engines, the leading provider of corporate tax management software, has announced that Mike Lippman, former KPMG national partner in charge, state and local tax services, has been named vice president, technical and strategic tax services. With more than 27 years of corporate and professional services tax experience, Mr. Lippman will lend his extensive tax technical experience to help guide the company’s product and services portfolio to meet the challenging dynamics of today’s legislative, regulatory, and business environment. In addition, he will drive strategic business development for Liquid Engines by partnering with thought leaders in the corporate, academic, and professional communities. Mr. Lippman has spent his career advising many of the largest multinational corporations on an array of complex state and local tax matters, in the areas of planning, compliance, controversy, and financial reporting, and brings to Liquid Engines invaluable insight and experience on the key issues facing companies today.

“Our mission is to provide superior tax software products that help create world-class tax organizations that manage risk, are operationally efficient, and add high value to their respective companies,” said Gwen Spertell, president and CEO, Liquid Engines. “To deliver on this mission we must continue to combine the brightest minds in taxation with the brightest minds in software. Mike Lippman is one of those bright minds, and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, which will be invaluable to our customers, our expanding product offerings, and our partner network.”

“There is no doubt that the needs of corporate tax departments have changed more in the last five years than the previous twenty-five combined. With financial accounting demands paramount, and the need to contain risk and drive efficiencies, the time has never been better to place tools in the hands of corporate professionals that will allow them to add unparalleled value to their organizations — tools that deliver against the needs of accuracy and reliability, consistency and speed,” said Mr. Lippman. “The team at Liquid Engines shares my passions and I am thrilled to be part of a company that is creating an entirely new kind of value for corporate tax professionals by combining strong tax technical skills with sophisticated software.”

A recognized thought leader, Mr. Lippman shares his experience and insight through frequent publishing in leading tax journals; speaking at the Tax Executives Institute, the Council on State Taxation, and many other national symposia; and sitting on a number of key advisory boards, including Georgetown University State and Local Tax Institute, BNA’s Multistate Tax Advisory Board, and Interstate Tax Report.

“I cannot think of a person better qualified and suited than Mike Lippman to join Liquid Engines’ leadership team,” said Walter Hellerstein, Francis Shackelford Professor of Taxation, University of Georgia School of Law and counsel to the law firm of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. “I have worked closely with Mike for many years, and he is without question one of the brightest stars in the state tax firmament. He brings to Liquid Engines not only unparalleled technical knowledge, but also deep experience and insight developed over a lifetime of dealing with some of the largest corporations and most significant issues in the state tax field. At Liquid Engines, Mike will have the opportunity to apply his extensive knowledge to addressing today’s greatest tax challenges, including those that call for both the highest levels of technical know-how and advanced technology. Liquid Engines and the tax community alike will reap great benefits from Mike’s new role.”

Mr. Lippman, a recipient of the Elijah Watts Sells award for achieving one of the highest grades in the country on the CPA exam, graduated magna cum laude and first in his class, at both the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he received his undergraduate degree in accounting, and Georgetown University, where he received his masters in taxation.
