Transfer Pricing Associates expand in Asia and Italy
Transfer Pricing Associates (TPA), the leading independent global transfer pricing services firm, has announced the establishment of the Asia Desk to satisfy the burgeoning demand for specialist transfer pricing services by global multinationals with operations in the Asia Pacific and by Asian multinationals in Europe.
The Asia Desk will comprise the following Asia Pacific transfer pricing experts:
Douglas Fone – Head of Asia Desk – with 20 years of international tax and transfer pricing experience advising many of the leading multinational companies in the Asia Pacific region in his time in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. Doug will continue to travel throughout the Asia Pacific region from his base in Sydney, Australia;
Dr Jian Li – Senior Manager, Greater China – well-known and widely-published transfer pricing expert, with extensive experience in accounting, auditing and transfer pricing matters in the Greater China region, to be based in Shanghai from September this year;
Dr Valerie Hsu – Senior Manager, Greater China – with over 13 years of international tax and transfer pricing experience in Europe and the Greater China region, particularly in relation to cross-border investments and technology transfers. Dr Hsu is based in the Netherlands;
Steven Carey – Senior Manager, Asia Pacific – with over 12 years of experience as an economist and transfer pricing advisor, including the design, documentation and implementation of practical transfer pricing systems and policies for some of the leading Asia Pacific multinationals. Steve will be based in Hong Kong from October this year.
Transfer pricing is fast becoming the most important and controversial business issue for multinational companies operating in the Asia Pacific region, as China rapidly becomes an aggressive and sophisticated enforcer of the arm’s length principle in advance of the introduction of a unified tax rate. Other countries in the region are reacting with similar urgency and vigour to protect their tax bases.
Members of the TPA Asia Desk will work together globally as one team on client projects throughout the Asia Pacific region, utilising other resources from the TPA group as required, to steer multinational companies through the maze of transfer pricing regulations and practices in the region in a practical and cost effective manner.
In August TPA also announced the opening of a new office in Italy. Mr. Alberto De Franceschi has been appointed Partner of Transfer Pricing Associates responsible for the Italian operations.
Alberto De Franceschi, a former Ernst & Young and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu senior consultant, has several years of experience designing, implementing and documenting transfer pricing systems for large organizations in the automotive, ATM’s, fashion, pharmaceutical and semiconductors industries. Mr. De Franceschi has also transfer pricing and managerial accounting experience in middle-sized and family-owned Italian companies.
