Tax Partner with Structured Finance Focus Joins Orrick in New York
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP have announced that John Narducci, a leading tax attorney, will join Orrick as a partner in the firm’s New York office. Narducci, who joins Orrick from White & Case, is the tenth partner to join Orrick’s New York office this year.
“John is an experienced and talented tax attorney who fits well with our culture,” said George Wolf, chair of Orrick’s tax group. “His addition to the firm will complement and add value to Orrick’s practices across the board, particularly with respect to our preeminent structured finance practice.”
Narducci’s practice involves the tax aspects of securities offerings, derivatives, mergers and acquisitions and financings, as well as a broad range of other transactions. Al Sawyers, co-chair of the firm’s structured finance group, said: “His expertise in collateralized debt obligations is particularly valuable given Orrick’s strength in this area. John’s international experience also will be very helpful as the firm continues to build its European structured finance practice.”
Narducci also is actively involved in the development of tax-advantaged financial structures, particularly in the cross-border context. In addition, he has created tax-efficient structures for several investment funds. He advises several financial institutions with respect to their derivatives transactions. He also works on the tax aspects of restructurings, pass-through entities and project financings.
“Orrick’s practice strengths, strategic direction and culture make it an exciting and attractive place to work,” said Narducci. “I am very enthusiastic about joining Orrick and contributing to its continued success.”
Narducci received his B.S. at Villanova University in 1984 and his J.D. from Fordham University in 1988. At Fordham, he served as Associate Editor for the Fordham Law Review and graduated first in his class. He also is an Adjunct Professor at the Fordham University School of Law where he teaches a class entitled “Taxation of Financial Instruments.”
