Wenham Major launch in Dubai
The fastest growing accountancy firm in the UK, which is based on Cornwall St in Birmingham, has announced details of its latest expansion story – the launch of its Dubai office.
MGI Wenham Major is expanding internationally and has set up the office in the heart of Dubai’s International Finance Centre (DIFC). The office is set to be the first international office of the firm, which also aims to set up operations in many other countries in the Middle East and Asia region. The firm is only the second accountancy company to set up within the prestigious DIFC and it aims to have around 12 staff operating from the Dubai office within the first twelve months, generating a turnover of over 1 million Sterling.
John Joyce, Executive Chairman of MGI Wenham Major, said, “We are all well aware by now that business success in the 21st century is likely to centre on countries in the Middle East and Asia region. We want to be a part of this market, we want to champion British business over there and we want to make sure organisations in Birmingham and across the UK can be a part of the action.
“We have catapulted up the league tables and I am very confident our growth will not stop here. We have achieved growth so far by organic means and very soon I hope to be making acquisitions that will push us even further up the league tables. Watch this space!”
“Our office will be headed up by Sukhbinder Heer and Lisa Dicken. They have years of experience and CVs that read like a who’s who of Accountancy.”
Sukhbinbder Heer was the National Managing Partner of RSM Robson Rhodes and he also has experience of working in Dubai. Lisa Dicken worked on Wenham Major’s private client business for over 2.5 years and also gained experience at Baker Tilly in their Corporate Tax department.
Lisa added, “Wenham Major in Dubai will help UK businesses break the Asian market. Our core services will be corporate finance, tax and private clients, where we will be working with a number of leading banks. Over the next few months we will be looking at other emerging markets into which we can launch offices.”
This expansion is the next logical step for Wenham Major as it looks to continue its rise. Wenham Major’s growth and innovative approach to business has won it the accolade of Mid Tier Firm of the year by Accountancy Age and it entered the top fifty in the Accountancy and Accountancy Age league tables for the first time in its 140 year history. MGI Wenham Major’s UK fee income has increased to £9.9 million, a 248 per cent rise on the previous period. The firm’s tax revenues leapt 292 per cent. It employs 63 people and is run from offices in Cornwall St, Birmingham.
