Craig McAree resigns as Head of International Tax for Grant Thornton UK
Hot off the press – Craig McAree has resigned from Grant Thornton London to return to Ernst & Young. Craig is Head of International Tax at the UK firm and only joined from EY in the summer of 2004. A spokesperson for Grant Thornton said “we are sorry to see him go and are grateful for all his excellent work”.
Craig has 12 years’ corporate tax experience with a focus on international structuring, tax efficient cross border financing and repatriation strategies, and supply chain re-engineering. He has been responsible for a number of senior hires into Grant Thornton’s international tax team, as reported here . The firm says that it intends to continue the growth of its international tax practice.
As an interim measure Joy Svasti-Salee has agreed to lead GT’s international tax team in London. Joy Svasti-Salee joined GT as a Director in 2004 and has 25 years’ tax experience, having been head of international tax at KPMG and a partner for 12 years. Joy has significant experience of advising UK and US-based multinationals on international and European tax matters, including European-based challenges to the European Court of Justice. She is also a Visiting Professorial Fellow of Queen Mary University London and lectures post-graduates on international tax law and European tax law.
