Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading international law firms, today announced the promotion of 24 attorneys to the position of Special Counsel. This list includes Richard Nugent, an attorney in the Tax Department, who is resident in New York.
A transactional lawyer with significant expertise in the tax aspects of public and private corporate mergers, acquisitions, and spin-offs, he also has experience advising clients on cross-border tax planning strategies, the tax consequences of restructurings and bankruptcies, and financing transactions.
He received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Saint Peter’s College, his J.D., with honors, from Rutgers School of Law, and his LL.M., with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center. Following law school, he clerked for The Honorable Robert P. Ruwe of the United States Tax Court and The Honorable Richard F. Suhrheinrich of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is admitted in New York.
