Linklaters’ real estate tax partner, Jonathan Evans, advises Istithmar
Linklaters has advised Istithmar Real Estate on the acquisition of one of London’s most prestigious office buildings, the Adelphi on the Strand which overlooks the River Thames. The 340,000 sq ft Thameside building is let to the Secretary of State and is the headquarters of US energy company Hess.
Istithmar is the investment vehicle of the Dubai government and is a well-known investor of real estate in prime locations around the world. It has been involved in a string of high-profile acquisitions, the biggest of which was the acquisition of ports and ferries operator P&O in March. It also owns the Knickerbocker Hotel at 6 Times Square in New York City.
Last year, Linklaters advised Istithmar on the acquisition of another prime building in the West End, One Trafalgar Square. This acquisition is Istithmar’s second UK deal and they were advised and assisted in London by P&O Estates, an affiliate of Istithmar.
