Emma Dudley, tax senior at accountants and business advisers BDO Stoy Hayward, has been selected to represent England at the upcoming 2007 Touch Rugby World Cup in South Africa (Jan 17th – 21st).

Emma, who is 24, has been selected for England’s mixed team and will compete against 20 countries including favourites Australia, New Zealand and hosts South Africa. England was recently crowned both Tri Nations (England, Scotland and Wales) and European Champion.

Emma is currently studying for her ACA qualification with the firm and has already completed her professional stage. She joined BDO Stoy Hayward in September 2005 after working for BDO Reanda in China and has only played touch rugby for a year and a half, though she previously played rugby union for London’s Harlequins and the England under 18’s team.

Emma commented on her selection: “It is an honour to be selected for the England team and the World Cup is a fantastic challenge. The tournament will be tough but I’ve been training hard for the last 6 months and am looking forward to the challenge. BDO Stoy Hayward’s support has also been a great help, especially financially, as the players are amateurs and, as such have to pay their own expenses.”

Paul Eagland, Head of Tax at BDO Stoy Hayward said “Everyone here is absolutely delighted for Emma and wishes her the best of luck at the World Cup. We are pleased we have been able to help and hopefully she can bring some sporting success to the country!”
