Cherry, Bekaert & Holland hires Senior Tax Manager and Tax Partner
Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, L.L.P. (CB&H), one of the largest regional public accounting firms headquartered in the Southeast, has announced the addition of Brian J. Monbouquette as Partner in charge of Tax Services for the Firm’s Richmond practice.
At CB&H, Monbouquette will lead a team of tax professionals providing tax planning and reporting services across Central Virginia. His own practice focus will be developing tax minimization strategies and providing financial planning advice to middle-market business organizations and their owners.
Monbouquette brings to the Firm more than 30 years of experience providing tax services and financial consulting to a diverse range of clients, including businesses active in manufacturing, technology, distribution, professional services, retail and venture capital. He has assisted growth-oriented companies with mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures, international operations, multistate taxation, special tax credit and incentive programs, and private equity financing. He has also helped many family-owned businesses with family succession and estate tax planning.
Prior to joining CB&H, Monbouquette was a partner with the Vermont-based public accounting firm Gallagher, Flynn & Company, LLP, where he directed the firm’s tax practice and led engagement teams performing cost segregation, research and development tax credit, and export tax incentive studies. Monbouquette began his accounting career with Price Waterhouse where he served in a variety of practice leadership roles, including 10 years as a tax partner. He has also worked in the private sector as COO and CFO of a consulting firm and as CFO of a software provider. Monbouquette graduated cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, and received his Master of Science degree in Accounting from the Northeastern Graduate School of Professional Accounting.
Also joining the Richmond office is Maureen A. McKay, as a Senior Tax Manager. A Certified Public Accountant with more than 25 years of diversified experience, McKay will focus her practice on providing tax planning and compliance services to the Firm’s diverse client base, including corporations, partnerships, employee benefit plans, trusts, estates and successful individuals. She has extensive experience serving the tax and accounting needs of clients across several industries, including real estate developers and managers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, contractors, automobile dealerships and professional service providers.
At CB&H, McKay will also represent clients in tax audits of the IRS and other tax agencies, plan and facilitate business mergers and acquisitions, and provide assistance to clients throughout the start-up process for new companies.
Prior to joining CB&H, McKay served as a manager with Wells, Coleman & Co., a local Richmond CPA firm. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Virginia University, a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Virginia, and a Certificate of International Business from Virginia Commonwealth University.
McKay is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, and is licensed in Virginia as a Certified Public Accountant. She has served on the boards of various non-profit organizations, including the YWCA of Richmond and the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
