Cuatrecasas hires Joan Hortala as Tax Partner

Cuatrecasas, the (Spanish) international law firm, has hired Joan Hortala as Tax Partner. He will manage a team based in the Barcelona office.

Joan Hortala is extensively experienced in tax law. He began his career as a professor at the Universidad de Barcelona and later joined the Spanish administration as State Finance Inspector, holding various positions including Chief Inspector of the Tax Authorities’ Barcelona Division, National European Commission Expert and Coordinator of the Double Taxation Treaties Area (Directorate General for Taxes). Before joining Cuatrecasas, he worked at Landwell-PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he directed the New York Spanish desk.

Mr. Hortala has published several books on taxation, as well as over 60 articles in Spanish and foreign journals on international taxation, e-commerce, transfer prices, financial assets, etc. He has given over 80 conferences in various European and American countries and lectures at ESADE.
