Smith & Williamson taps Mark McMullen from Chiltern
Mark McMullen has joined Smith & Williamson, the UK’s 8th largest accountancy firm, as a director in the Private Client Tax Services department.
Mark advises private clients and their families on their financial and tax affairs. His specialisms include non-UK domiciliaries, UK direct taxes, and UK property and trusts. He has experience of planning and administering offshore trusts and was on the board of a Jersey trust company for three years.
“My role is essentially about giving my clients peace of mind,” said Mark. “They want to know that their past financial affairs have been dealt with properly, and that someone is working in partnership with them to plan their tax affairs and to secure their financial future.”
In the past, Mark has been involved in pro-bono work, acting as treasurer for the charities Campaign to Protect Rural England for five years and Trinity Hospice for two years. He was also Central London branch treasurer for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families’ Association Forces Help for ten years.
Mark is a member of STEP and is on its City of London Branch committee. He sat on the STEP UK Technical Committee from 1999 to 2003.
Prior to joining Smith & Williamson, Mark was a director with Chiltern Private Clients Limited. He qualified as an accountant with Dixon Wilson in 1989.
