Triple Qualified Tax Partner joins UK Law Firm Shoosmiths
Rapidly growing national firm Shoosmiths has appointed Niall Murphy to head up its corporate tax department, taking the total number of partners at the firm to 93.
Niall has joined from Blake Lapthorn Linnell where he was head of corporate tax for 10 years.
Niall is triple qualified as a solicitor, accountant and a Chartered Tax Advisor with a significant track record advising on tax issues in all types of corporate and property transactions as well as employment related tax issues including recruitment and termination packages and IR35 structures. His broad experience encompasses approved and unapproved share options and incentive schemes, advising public companies such as Hamworthy plc and VT Group plc.
Shoosmiths’ head of corporate, Oliver Brookshaw believes Niall’s expertise and experience is a great match for the firm. He commented: “As the calibre and size of our deals increases, we needed to invest in a highly experienced tax partner to support these transactions and to supplement our existing tax team. Niall brings a depth of knowledge which will not only support existing client transactions but will draw new clients to us who want to take advantage of his expertise in UK and international tax issues.”
Niall, who is based in the firm’s Solent office, is a Member of the VAT Practitioner’s Group and of the Corporation Tax Sub Committee of the Law Society.
Shoosmiths has already boosted its corporate and commercial teams significantly over the last year with the appointments of corporate partners Chris Garnett from Eversheds, Geoff Perry from Bevan Brittan, Mark Shepherd from Blake Lapthorn Linnell and commercial partner David Jackson from Compass Group.
