Jones Day Lures Dallas Benefits/Compensation Partner, Gary Short
Gary G. Short has joined the Dallas office of international law firm Jones Day as a partner in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice.
Formerly a partner with Vinson & Elkins LLP, Mr. Short focuses on the treatment of employee benefit plans and executive compensation in business transactions. His practice also centers around issues relating to the investment of pension assets, including structuring investment vehicles and transactions to comply with ERISA’s plan asset rules and related fiduciary concerns. Mr. Short has experience designing, implementing and administering employee benefit plans, including pension, profit sharing, 401(k), nonqualified deferred compensation, equity-based and welfare plans. He has worked closely with governmental plans, representing both pension boards as well as governmental entities.
A graduate of Southern Methodist University (LL.M. Taxation, 1986), the University of Miami School of Law (J.D. cum laude, 1981), and Grove City College (B.A. with honors, 1971), Mr. Short has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America annually since 1995 and has served as chair of the Dallas Bar Association’s Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Section and as director of the Dallas Benefits Society.
