Deloitte has announced the appointment of David Cruickshank as Chairman of the UK Board of Partners, with effect from 1 June 2007. David will succeed Martin Scicluna, who steps down from the role on 31 May 2007 after serving 12 years as Chairman.

David Cruickshank (48) has spent his entire career with the firm having joined as a trainee accountant in 1979 in the firm’s Edinburgh office after graduating from the University of Edinburgh. He moved on qualification to the London office in 1982 and has specialised throughout his career in advising large corporates on their tax affairs. He became a partner in 1988 and from 1998 until 2006 he was leader of the firm’s tax practice nationally in the UK.

John Connolly, Chief Executive and Senior Partner, commented, “I’m delighted by David’s appointment. I am looking forward to working with him in his new capacity as Chairman of the UK Board of Partners and am pleased that alongside his new role David will continue to advise a number of our most significant clients.”

John Connolly also paid tribute to Martin Scicluna, who has served as Chairman of the UK Board for 12 years: “The partnership is grateful to Martin for his tremendous contribution to the vitality of the firm and the profession more widely.”

David Cruickshank, incoming Chairman, commented, “I’m extremely pleased to have the opportunity to serve our firm in my new role. Over the last few years Deloitte has gone from strength to strength. We have an outstanding practice of which I am very proud and I look forward to contributing to the future success of our firm, its partners, our clients and our people.”
