Eveleigh & Read – Tailors to the London Tax Market
Eveleigh & Read LLP was set up in June last year when Hunter & Lords, the visiting tailors, decided to close their London operation. Robert Eveleigh and Paul Read who worked for H&L decided to set up on their own to continue to service existing clients and to grow the business further.
Partner Paul Read takes up the story: “I came from a traditional retail background where my clients came to me but I realised that in this day and age men who worked in the City were often too busy to visit a tailor and they required a solution that would bring the service to them which was why I joined Hunter & Lords. When I started out I was always on the look-out for names and telephone numbers of men who might appreciate the concept of what I offered and would be prepared to afford me half-an-hour in their hectic schedules. I happened to be in the London Business Library one day and came across the last print copy of the Institute of Tax Advisers, which became my call-list for the following months. This was the first step in working with tax professionals in Accountancy and Law”.
These days, most of their new clients come by referral and because of Paul’s experience of working with men in the tax sphere he has a very good idea of what any prospective new client may require. Most initial consultations take approximately half-an-hour and once the first suit is finished, and fittings completed, any subsequent commissions only require about ten minutes. As Paul takes up the story: “What all my clients appreciate, irrespective of whether or not they have had tailor-made clothes in the past , is the amount of time they save by me visiting them at their place of work when buying their clothes. We have also expanded our service from just offering suits so we now make shirts, jackets, casual trousers, overcoats, formalwear, country sportswear and shoes.”
If you struggle to find the time to go shopping, or have difficulties finding good quality clothes that fit then why not give them a call? They can be reached on 0203 178 2297 or here
Editor’s note: These guys read Tax Grotto to keep up to date with developments in the tax market. I think this shows a real dedication to the tax profession and should be applauded.
