Stephen Daintith gets top finance job at Dow Jones
Stephen Daintith has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Dow Jones & Company, Chief Executive Officer Les Hinton announced this week.Mr. Daintith will be responsible for the company’s finance functions, including business unit finance, corporate accounting, general accounting, credit, internal audit and tax as well as corporate technology and general services.
“I know first-hand his ability in finance and the news business,” Mr. Hinton said. “Serving as CFO while I was executive chairman at News International in London, Stephen was instrumental to our success not just by leading the finance group but by working closely with all the company’s business leaders on strategy and planning. His leadership and experience will be invaluable as we grow Dow Jones.”
“It has been hugely enjoyable and rewarding at News International the past two-and-a-half years – we continue to make terrific progress as a highly successful media business,” Mr. Daintith said. “I’m now delighted to be joining Les and the team at Dow Jones as we take the greatest global brand in financial journalism and business information to further success.”
Mr. Daintith, 43 years old, joined News International as CFO in September 2005. Before then, he spent nine years at British American Tobacco in a variety of roles, among them: strategic planning in South Africa, finance director in South Africa and Pakistan and managing director in Bangladesh and Switzerland. He has worked also at Forte, at the U.K.’s Civil Aviation Authority and for Price Waterhouse. He is a graduate of the University of Leeds.
