HMRC Tax Investigations Director to join SFO

According to an article in the Times Online today, Richard Alderman, currently director of the National Teams and Special Civil Investigations unit at the Revenue, will succeed Robert Wardle as SFO director on April 21.

In his current role, Mr Alderman, 55, manages over 3,000 Revenue staff engaged in tax investigations. Between 2003 and 2005, Mr Alderman, who originally trained as a barrister, was director of the Revenue’s Special Compliance Office with responsibility for criminal investigations.
