Tim Fenn moves to V&E’s New York office
Vinson & Elkins has announced that seven of its partners are moving to New York as part of the law firm’s plan to emphasize and grow its national and international presence and better serve its clients. The relocation of the seven partners is a key part of V&E’s long-term strategic plan designed to make New York a “flagship office” of the law firm.
“With Vinson & Elkins’ strong position in the energy business, we believe the addition of these seven partners in our New York office will enable the firm to significantly expand its existing active practice in the world’s leading financial center,” says V&E Managing Partner Joe Dilg, who offices in New York and Houston. “The group, led by Marcia Backus, who is the co-chair of Vinson & Elkins’ global energy industry practice group, will add significant energy industry experience in our New York mergers and acquisition, tax, international, finance, and private equity practices.”
The seven V&E partners moving to New York includes Tim Fenn who focuses on domestic and international business taxation issues, including the taxation of publicly traded partnerships. He has been named by Chambers USA and Legal 500 as one of the leading business tax lawyers in the country. Mr. Fenn graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown Law Center in 1996.
“The decision of these seven partners to move their law practices demonstrates V&E’s commitment to growing our New York presence as an integral part of being an international law firm,” says Clifford Thau, a securities litigator who is co-managing partner of V&E’s New York office, which is based in Midtown Manhattan. “These seven partners add to a very strong team of lawyers already in place. Their relocation is especially important to V&E’s financial services clients based in New York because it builds upon our existing terrific capital markets, private equity, and M&A practices.”
