Reed Smith Adds Partner With Federal Tax Expertise – Arnold Grant Joins Tax, Benefits & Wealth Planning In Chicago Office
Reed Smith LLP has announced the addition of Arnold E. Grant as a partner in the Tax, Benefits and Wealth Planning Group. A specialist in U.S. federal income tax matters, Mr. Grant is resident in the firm’s Chicago office.
Mr. Grant was formerly a partner in the Chicago office of McGuire Woods, where his practice focused on the federal tax aspects of complex financial transactions including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, partnership and corporate tax planning, private equity and hedge funds, and equipment leasing transactions. He represents both privately held and publicly traded companies.
“The added strength in the firm’s federal income tax practice will be of great benefit to our clients,” said James Tandler, a partner in the Tax Practice. “His background, expertise and experience representing clients in challenging federal transactions adds to our core tax capabilities and will be helpful especially in Chicago where we are seeing a high volume of transactional work.”
In 1984, Mr. Grant earned a J.D. from The University of Chicago School of Law. He earned a BA from Washington University, St Louis, in 1980. He is a member of the Tax sections of the American Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association, where he also previously served as Head of the Corporate Tax Division.

Mr. Grant is the second highly experienced federal tax professional who has joined Reed Smith this year. In February, Angelo Ciavarella became a member of the firmwide Tax, Benefits and Wealth Planning Group in the firm’s New York City office.
