Robert Hogan appointed a Judge of the Tax Court of Canada
The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, recently announced the following appointment: The Honourable Robert James Hogan , a partner with the law firm Stikeman Elliott LLP in Montreal is appointed a Judge of the Tax Court of Canada . He replaces Mr. Justice P. R. Dussault who resigned.
Mr. Justice Hogan received a Master of Tax Law in 1986 and a Bachelor of Civil Law in 1981 from Université de Sherbrooke. He was admitted to the Bar of Quebec in 1985. He received the award Prix du Barreau de Quebec for achieving the highest cumulative average for studies in law at the Université de Sherbrooke. Mr. Justice Hogan has practiced with Stikeman Elliott LLP since 1985 and became a partner in the firm in 1991. Mr. Justice Hogan has developed an expertise in corporate taxation including corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, cross border financing, derivative products, partnerships, trusts and international taxation. Mr. Justice Hogan is a member of the Management Committee of Stikeman Elliott LLP, and recognized as a leading tax practitioner in Canada.
