UST Inc. has announced that Kenneth N. Tamaro has been promoted and will take on additional responsibilities with the company. Tamaro, aged 51, has been appointed treasurer for UST, in addition to his existing responsibilities as vice president, tax.
As UST’s new treasurer, Tamaro is responsible for the company’s treasury functions, including cash management, credit and risk management. Tamaro joined UST in 1995 as director, federal and international tax. He assumed additional responsibility as director of the entire tax function in 1998 and was named a senior director in 2004. Tamaro has been responsible for all aspects of the tax function in the company’s corporate finance organization since being appointed vice president, tax in 2005 and was recently appointed acting treasurer as well.
Prior to joining UST, Tamaro served several years as senior tax attorney at Union Camp Corporation in Wayne, NJ. Previously, he held tax positions with Ernst & Whinney and Price Waterhouse. He earned his law degree from Seton Hall University and bachelor’s degree in accounting, cum laude, from Farleigh Dickinson University. He is a resident of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
