Blum Shapiro announces raft of tax appointments
Blum Shapiro, the largest regional accounting and business consulting firm based in Connecticut, is pleased to announce the promotion of Anthony J. Switajewski, CPA, to principal; George W. Thomas, CPA, and Elizabeth A. Solecki, CPA to director and Laura L. House, CPA to tax manager. The firm also welcomes Andrew S. Lattimer, CPA, as tax director.Anthony J. Switajewski, CPA, a Plainville resident, has been appointed as tax principal. He has extensive experience in federal and state taxation, specializing in multi-state taxation issues. Switajewski received a Bachelor of Science from Central Connecticut State University in 1983 and a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Hartford in 1987. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1985. Switajewski previously worked with Big Four accounting firms for nearly 20 years before joining Blum Shapiro in 2004. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Tax Committee of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association.
George W. Thomas, CPA, an Orange resident, has been appointed as director of healthcare services. He has over 18 years of healthcare industry experience specializing in auditing, compliance, cost reporting and reimbursement and operational consulting. He is also a member of Blum Shapiro’s Process and Controls Consulting Group. Thomas received a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Haven in 1989. He previously worked at Arthur Andersen LLP for 13 years, where he served as manager. Thomas joined Blum Shapiro in 2002. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Elizabeth A. Solecki, CPA, a West Hartford resident, has been appointed as tax director. She has 20 years of experience, specializing in tax planning, compliance and consulting for privately held businesses and their owners and for non-profit organizations. She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut in 1986 and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1996. Solecki previously worked at Arthur Andersen LLP for 15 years before she joined Blum Shapiro in 2002. She is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Laura L. House, CPA, a Tolland resident, has been appointed tax manager. She has 10 years of experience in tax compliance and consulting. She serves clients in a variety of industries, including non-profit organizations. House specializes in federal and multi-state taxation services, primarily with professional corporations and privately held businesses. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Cum Laude, from Boston College in 1998, and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 2005. She began her career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Boston. House was a tax supervisor at Tofias PC in Cambridge, MA, before joining Blum Shapiro in 2007. She is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Andrew S. Lattimer, CPA, a Windsor resident, joins the firm as tax director with 14 years of experience in tax planning, research, consulting and tax compliance for privately held businesses, public companies, partnerships and individuals. He works with clients involved in manufacturing, real estate, construction, technology, healthcare, consumer products and private equity funds. Previously, he was tax director with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Lattimer received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northeastern University in 1994 and a Master in Taxation from the University of Hartford in 2000. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1998. Lattimer is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and Construction Finance Management Association.
