Stephenson Harwood hires Jeremy Glover and Sanjay Mehta
STEPHENSON HARWOOD STRENGTHENS TAX PRACTICE WITH DOUBLE PARTNER HIRE
International law firm, Stephenson Harwood, has strengthened its corporate tax practice with the double partner hire of Jeremy Glover and Sanjay Mehta. Jeremy Glover who has been consulting at Stephenson Harwood will take on the full time position of share schemes partner and Sanjay joins from US law firm, Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, where he was a senior associate in the corporate tax group. Both appointments demonstrate the corporate practice’s continued drive for expansion and commitment to providing a full service offering to existing and prospective clients both in the UK and internationally.
Jeremy has been working as a share schemes consultant for Stephenson Harwood for the past six months and his appointment is effective as of 1 October 2008. He has over 13 years’ experience in transactional support and given that management equity and share schemes are a key part of corporate deals, such as management buy outs and private equity deals, he will work closely with other corporate partners to provide a full service offering to Stephenson Harwood’s clients. As an independent consultant he has most recently worked in Addleshaw Goddard’s employee incentives team. Prior to 2005, Jeremy headed up the UK Employees Incentives Team as a partner at K & L Gates and the entrepreneurial incentives practice at Ernst & Young in London. Jeremy also has a particular interest in India and has worked there for numerous companies and firms including PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Sanjay joins the firm as a corporate tax partner where he will provide senior level expertise in transactions involving banking, structured and asset finance, M&A, private equity, funds and restructurings. Sanjay has experience in a wide range of corporate and financing transactions and has advised on a range of high profile deals including acting for NASDAQ Inc. on its bid for the London Stock Exchange and BlackRock on its merger with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers to form one of the world’s largest independent investment manager firms.
Sharon White, head of Stephenson Harwood’s corporate practice, commented: “Jeremy and Sanjay’s appointments are another step in the development of Stephenson Harwood’s corporate practice which has seen significant growth in its client base over the past couple of years. Their arrival further strengthens our team and ensures that we are providing a full service offering to all of our clients across our international network as well as enabling us to attract new business.”
