[private]Akerman Senterfitt has announced that Stephen Dunegan has joined the firm’s Orlando office.

Mr. Dunegan focuses primarily on estate and tax planning, asset protection planning and trusts and estates. Most recently Mr. Dunegan was with Dean Mead and he joins an expanding Corporate practice at Akerman that recently added Jerry Black as shareholder in the New York office.

Focusing on primarily on estate and tax planning, Mr. Dunegan brings nearly three decades of experience to the firm. Mr. Dunegan devotes his practice primarily to estate, charitable and tax planning, asset protection planning, and trusts and estates, and often counsels clients on the problems of owning and transferring interests in closely held and family businesses. He utilizes all available planning techniques consistent with achieving family goals and tax savings, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, charitable trusts, family limited partnerships, and LLCs.

An active community participant, Mr. Dunegan is a member of many key groups, including the Planned Giving Council of Central Florida, the Central Florida Estate Planning Council, University of Central Florida Planned Giving Professional Advisory Board and the Florida Hospital Foundation Planned Giving Board, among others. He is board-certified in both Tax Law and in Wills, Trusts and Estates by the Florida Bar.
