Paulus Merks sets up European Tax Desk for DLA in NY

DLA Piper has established a European tax desk in New York. The desk has been set up by Paulus Merks, a tax partner in[private] DLA Piper’s Amsterdam office. The European tax desk will focus on advising US and Canadian multinationals on restructurings, mergers and acquisition transactions, stock exchange listings, financial products and structured finance transactions in Europe.

The global tax team works with a range of businesses and multi-national companies on a range of matters, including transfer pricing, tax disputes, post-acquisition integration and global equity compensation. The European tax desk will help to improve the support DLA Piper gives to its US clients.

Paulus, an experienced lawyer in international and European tax law, has previously worked in the US and France. He received his LLM degree in US tax law from the University of San Francisco.
