GE Senior Tax Counsel appointed Chairman of CBI Tax Committee
The CBI has appointed Will Morris of General Electric as Chairman of its Taxation Committee.
Mr Morris, a member of the Committee for the past five years, has been Senior International Tax Counsel and Director of European Tax Policy at General Electric since 2000.
The CBI Taxation Committee, which is made up of 23 individuals from different businesses, deals with all matters concerning business taxation in the UK and overseas.
“I am convinced that the Taxation Committee has a key role to play in helping to shape the tax policy of the next government. What happens in this area in the next year or two has the potential to determine the success, or failure, of the UK as a business centre over the next decade or more.”
Richard Woolhouse, CBI Head of Tax and Fiscal Policy, said:
“We’re delighted that Mr Morris will be leading this vital committee, particularly at such a critical juncture for the UK economy. He draws on a depth of experience in both tax policy and as a tax practitioner in a major international company.”
Mr Morris is also a Vice-Chairman of the Business & Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) to the OECD, a member of the Tax Policy Group of BusinessEurope , and Chairman of the European Tax Policy Forum.
The CBI is the UK’s leading business organisation, speaking for some 240,000 businesses that together employ around a third of the private sector workforce. With offices across the UK as well as representation in Brussels, Washington, Beijing and Delhi the CBI communicates the British business voice around the world.
