Fox Rothschild taps 6 tax & estate attorneys from Hackensack-based Deener, Hirsch & Shramenko
Fox Rothschild LLP continues its program of steady expansion with the addition of six tax and estate attorneys from Hackensack-based Deener, Hirsch & Shramenko, P.C. to the firm’s growing practice in northern New Jersey. Joining Fox Rothschild are Jerome A. Deener, Debra T. Hirsch and Adam M. Grenker as partners and Julia S. Epstein, Erica J. Goldberg and Cornelius O’Reilly as counsel.

All six attorneys will be joining the firm’s Roseland office, although Fox Rothschild plans to maintain a presence in Hackensack, NJ.

Deener is a nationally recognized estate planning attorney and tax litigator who focuses his practice in individual, corporate and estate planning, real estate and taxation. He has appeared before the U.S. Tax Court in cases involving complex and timely estate and gift tax issues and has also secured numerous notable Private Letter Rulings from the National Office of the IRS that significantly reduced estate tax consequences for his clients.
A frequent lecturer, Deener has presented many programs on taxation and estate planning before the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) and other professional groups and is the winner of a Distinguished Service Award from the ICLE for his contributions to the field. Deener is the author of numerous articles on estate planning and taxation. Together with Hirsch and Grenker, he authored several editions of the Estate Planning Strategist, a treatise published by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education geared towards attorneys and accountants. He is an ACTEC Fellow and serves as Chairman of the Business Planning Subcommittee for drafting LLC Operating Agreements, incorporating current developments. He earned his LL.M. from New York University Law School in 1971; his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1968; and his B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University in 1965.
With more than 20 years of tax law experience, Hirsch represents clients in federal and state estate and gift tax planning, charitable planning, preparation of wills and trusts and estate administration. She is a sought-after lecturer on various tax law-related topics and has presented before professional groups on the subjects of sophisticated gift and estate tax planning, closely held family businesses, and trusts and estates. Hirsch received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1980 and her B.A., magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1977. She also attended the LL.M. in Taxation program at New York University Law School.
Grenker focuses his practice on estate, gift and income taxation, estate planning, estate and trust administration, and federal and state tax controversies. He also counsels closely held businesses and nonprofit organizations and advises clients on succession planning issues. Grenker has contributed to numerous articles on tax law, has given various seminars on tax and financial planning and serves on the Board of Consultors of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, Grenker earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1998 and received his B.S. from the University of Virginia in 1995.
Epstein focuses her practice on all matters related to probate litigation. She has substantial trial experience and has handled various general commercial litigation matters and defended clients in white-collar criminal cases. Epstein is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York and is a former Assistant District Attorney for New York County and a former Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey. She earned her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, Newark, in 2000 and her B.A., cum laude, from Rutgers College of Rutgers University in 1997.
Goldberg focuses her practice on domestic estate and tax planning with a concentration on estate administration and charitable planning. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and earned her J.D., cum laude, from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2000 and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Barnard College in 1995.
O’Reilly focuses his practice on estate controversy and probate litigation and criminal tax law as well as federal and multistate taxation issues. He represents individuals and corporations concerning tax planning, audits, appeals and litigation and counsels taxpayers in IRS compromises, audits and appeals. During his legal career, O’Reilly spent more than six years with the Bronx County District Attorney’s office and was the first assistant district attorney chosen to form the Gang Prosecution/Major Case Bureau. O’Reilly received his LL.M. in Taxation in 2007 and his J.D. in 1993 from New York University School of Law and his B.S. from Fordham University in 1990.
