Mr. Chua practises exclusively in the area of tax litigation and tax disputes resolution. He has acted for companies in the financial services, telecommunications, resources, retail and transportation sectors, and has litigated before the Tax Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, Ontario Court of Appeal, and Ontario Superior Court of Justice. He has written for various tax publications including Tax Litigation, to which he also contributes by serving on its Board of Editors. He also regularly addresses the Tax Executives Institute.

“I am excited to be joining McCarthy Tétrault and its transfer pricing and tax disputes groups,” said Chia-yi. “Together, we will be able to better manage and resolve the significant tax issues confronting our clients.”

Mr. Chua is recommended in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2010, as one of Canada’s leading tax litigation lawyers and is “praised for his skills in strategy and his ability to explain complex issues to clients.” World Tax, an international guide to tax firms, singled out Mr. Chua as a leader in tax litigation and controversy resolution, and he has been included in both the 2010 and 2011 editions of Best Lawyers in Canada.
