Moore Colson admits new tax partner
Steven Murphy, formerly a Senior Manager in Moore Colson’s Tax Services Practice, has been promoted to Tax Partner.
Steven started his professional career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he worked in their Mergers and Acquisitions group. He then spent two years with Deloitte & Touche LLC, and most recently worked for another Atlanta-based accounting firm serving closely-held clients.
As a partner at Moore Colson, Steven serves in a leadership role and works with the coordination of tax services for clients, planning and organizing engagements, managing the progress of work, maintaining and expanding client relationships, developing and implementing tax planning strategies, performing research, and supervising staff. With expertise in federal and state tax planning, Steven’s business background includes serving clients in the manufacturing, retail, and transportation industries. Steven is also a leader in the firm’s rainmaker program and serves on the retail, transportation and public company industry teams.
Steven is a graduate of the University of Georgia (Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting in 1998, and a MAcc, Tax Specialization in 1999). Steven is an active member of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a life member of The UGA Alumni Association, and a member of Marietta First United Methodist Church. Steven was also a recipient of Moore Colson’s Peak Award in 2009 due to his continued dedication to the firm, team members, and clients. Steven’s consistent eagerness to guide his staff also resulted in numerous nominations for the coveted award. Steven and his wife, the former Jean Ann Kiser of Marietta, have one son and live in the Marietta area.
