2 New Tax Partners at RSM Bird Cameron: Welch and McKay
RSM Bird Cameron, one of the largest mid-tier accounting firms in Australia, has announced two new tax appointments in Sydney and Melbourne.
The new appointments include:
* Paul Welch, appointed Partner/Director – Tax in Sydney, effective April 2011
* Scott McKay, appointed Partner/Director – Tax in Melbourne, effective January 2011.

Paul Welch
Paul joins the tax division in Sydney to bring an additional perspective to the ever changing complexity of tax specialisation. Having worked in both Australia and the United States, he is uniquely placed to advise on complex cross border issues, and has more than 18 years tax experience in tax.
He was previously a tax partner at specialist tax consulting firm, Balazs, Lazanas and Welch LLP and prior to that was a partner at Deloitte and Baker & McKenzie.
Paul has extensive experience in transaction based advisory and international tax planning.
Paul is a fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia, a member of the NSW Law Society and member of Tax Sub-Committee of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. He holds a Master of Law, Master of Law & Legal Practice and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).
Scott McKay
Scott joins the tax division in Melbourne to provide tax consulting advice on Australian corporate tax matters with specialist interest in inbound and outbound investment structures as well as tax advice and reviews for transactions both onshore and offshore of Australia. Scott has more than 23 years experience in taxation consulting, specialising in corporate and international tax.
He was previously a taxation consulting partner for PKF Australia.

* mergers and acquisitions
* divestments, de-mergers and liquidations
* tax consolidation and MECs
* private rulings, objections, audit defence

Scott is an associate member of CPA Australia, a fellow of the Tax Institute of Australia and an affiliate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (University of Tasmania) and a Masters of Taxation (Honours) (University of Melbourne).
Scott is also a registered tax agent.
