Mike Thorne jumps ship from EY to Deloitte
Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has appointed transactions tax specialist, Mike Thorne, as a partner in its Reading office.
Mike, who joins from Ernst & Young, has 16 years experience in advising multinational corporates and private equity clients in tax matters at all points in the transaction lifecycle. In particular, he specialises in providing tax advice around acquisition and post-acquisition structuring, disposal planning, tax efficient financing and tax aligned supply chain planning.
Mike Thorne comments: “This is a really exciting time in the M&A market, particularly in technology and telecoms. Spring 2011 brought with it an air of confidence and appetite for new opportunities. We are seeing many of our clients actively exploring M&A as a vehicle to drive their growth plans, balancing the shareholder pressure to deliver stellar returns on capital investment with a still delicate global economy.”
Lisa Stott, head of tax for Deloitte in the South East, says: “With 19 experienced corporate tax partners in the region, 14 of whom are based in Reading, we already offer the most comprehensive services locally. We’re delighted to welcome Mike to the firm. His breadth of expertise is a great addition to our team. As private equity begins to re-emerge after a relatively quiet period, we anticipate increasing demand for the services we offer across our audit, tax, consulting and corporate finance teams. We aim to work closely together with our clients to deliver exceptional service from acknowledged specialists in their respective fields.”
