Joseph D. Mudd Joins Reznick Group from The Specialty Tax Service Group As National Director of Tax
Reznick Group, a top 20 national CPA firm, has announced that Joseph D. Mudd, has joined the firm as the National Director of Tax. Mudd, an experienced and tenured veteran of large, national consulting and services firms, will be charged with helping expand the capabilities, reach, and knowledge base of the firm’s national tax practice for its clients and prospects.

Mudd joins Reznick Group from The Specialty Tax Service Group, New York, N.Y., where he was the founder and managing director. With Specialty Tax Services Group, Mudd designed and developed national tax practice groups for several large national and super-regional CPA firms. Mudd also worked with firms to organize grassroots efforts to communicate with members of the U.S. Congressional House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee and the Joint Committee on Taxation regarding the impact a proposed LIFO repeal will have upon job creation in industrial states.
About Joseph D. Mudd
Previously, Mudd was a partner and managing director with RSM McGladrey’s New York Economic Unit Specialty Tax Services Practice, which delivers large International and Federal Tax Consulting projects to Middle Market Companies (defined as $500 million to $2 billion in worldwide revenues). Also with McGladrey, Mudd was a partner in the National Tax practice.
Prior to McGladrey, Mudd was a tax partner with Ernst & Young where he lead E&Y’s Metro New York Area accounting methods and inventories practice and the firm’s Internal Revenue Code 199 domestic manufacturing deduction practice. At E&Y, Mudd was recognized as one of the firm’s best partners in identifying, recruiting and developing talent. As a tax senior manager at E&Y, Mudd founded and led the firm’s accounting methods and inventory practice in the pacific/southwest region.
Prior to joining E&Y, Mudd worked in tax senior staff positions at Price Waterhouse & Co., and Arthur Andersen & Co. Mudd holds a master of taxation degree from the University of Denver, and a B.S. from Colorado State University. He also earned and associate degree from Otero Junior College.
Mudd is a licensed CPA in New Jersey.
