David Hryck joins SNR Denton from DLA Piper as the new US Head of International Tax

SNR Denton announced today that David M. Hryck, Jeffrey S. Korenblatt and David A. Mason will be joining the firm’s Tax practice as partners, Sheila Geraghty will join as counsel and Marina Makanova will join as a project director.

Hryck will assume a leadership role as US Head of International Tax. Hryck, Mason, Geraghty and Makanova will reside in New York and Korenblatt will reside in Washington, DC.

With over 17 years of experience as a tax and business lawyer, Hryck advises clients on the tax and business aspects of structuring their domestic and cross-border operations and investments. He is an advisor to corporations as well as individuals across the globe. Hryck personally oversees the ever-changing landscape of their client business/investment ventures, acting as an advisor for all their legal needs. He is a valued and trusted advisor, board member and mentor to several trusts and global charities. For example, Hryck serves on the board of directors of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Foundation, Yue-Sai Kan’s Friends of China Beauty Charity and TRH (Yugoslavia) Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine’s Lifeline Humanitarian Organization. Hryck is a World Fellow of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for Excellence Fund, founded by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and travels regularly to royal occasions around the world. He also serves as a US member of the Duke’s Business Advisory Group headed by HRH Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.

Korenblatt concentrates his practice on international tax planning for public and private multinational companies. He advises on all aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions, post-merger rationalization of related entities operations and transfer pricing. Korenblatt also guides taxpayers in the implementation of multi-jurisdictional business structures and the use of special purpose foreign entities. He provides tax advice for maximizing the utilization of foreign tax credits and for minimizing the effects of anti-deferral regimes. He frequently helps foreign persons efficiently structure their investments in the US.

Mason focuses his practice on transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, including venture capital, and private equity and corporate governance and strategic advising, including for start-ups, in technology, real estate, retail, entertainment and fashion. More recently, he has used his pre-legal practice backgrounds in business and politics to concentrate on the needs of high net worth individuals and celebrities with an international presence. He has also had significant experience advising as outside general counsel and as a board member to numerous international charities focusing on aid to children.

Geraghty’s practice is focused on developing international structuring strategies, supply chain planning, transfer pricing planning and documentation, audit support for transfer pricing, foreign tax credit planning, FIN 48 analysis, qualified cost sharing agreements and buy-in payment analysis and advanced pricing agreement and tax audit support.

Makanova specializes in strategic business planning, financial performance management, streamlining business processes, knowledge management and practice integration, lateral recruiting and business development and client relations.
