International Tax Specialist, Demetri Yatrakis, Joins WeiserMazars LLP’s Real Estate Services Group from PwC
WeiserMazars LLP announced today that Demetri G. Yatrakis has joined the firm as a tax principal in its Real Estate Services Group.
Mr. Yatrakis will be based in the firm’s New York City office. He brings expertise both from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a real estate tax director, as well as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he served as an attorney advisor in the Office of Chief Counsel. Mr. Yatrakis specializes in tax structuring and compliance for global and domestic real estate funds and joint ventures with tiered partnership structures and corporate entities. In addition, Mr. Yatrakis has extensive experience advising investors on issues related to inbound and real estate investments, including the application of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (“FIRPTA”) and of the U.S. withholding rules.
Mr. Yatrakis strengthens the suite of services offered by the WeiserMazars Real Estate Services Group including tax, audit, financial reporting and transactional due diligence.

Prior to joining WeiserMazars, Mr. Yatrakis served as a director in the Real Estate Tax group at PwC. He was responsible for the tax compliance and structuring of several multi-billion dollar real estate funds, as well as administering multi-asset Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). In addition, Mr. Yatrakis spent five years at the IRS’ Office of Chief Counsel where he developed technical guidelines related to partnerships, S corporations and tax shelters, processed private letter rulings, and provided legal expertise on court, audit and tax shelter cases.
Mr. Yatrakis holds an LLM from New York University School of Law, a JD from Fordham University, and is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York.
