Deloitte appoints former Dallas tax leader, Mary Boelke, as Managing Partner of the Indianapolis office
Deloitte, the largest professional services organization in the United States, has appointed Mary Boelke managing partner of its Indianapolis office. Boelke, an Indiana native, is the first woman to lead Deloitte’s Indianapolis office.
Boelke succeeds Mike Becher who served as office managing partner for more than 20 years. Becher, whose career with Deloitte spans 36 years, will retire effective June 1. He will remain active on several business and civic boards of directors, including the United Way of Central Indiana, the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Marian University and the Boy Scouts of America Crossroads of America Council.
“As a native Hoosier, it’s an honor to return to my deep roots in Indiana to lead our practice,” said Boelke. “I’m eager to build on our success under Mike’s leadership and to continue to develop our talent, enhance our brand in the marketplace and maintain our commitment to the Indianapolis communities.”
Boelke will be responsible for leading the quality, client satisfaction, growth, marketplace and human resources initiatives for approximately 200 Deloitte professionals in Indianapolis. In addition, Boelke will continue to serve as lead tax partner, Deloitte Tax LLP, for several companies in the technology, consumer products and retail industries. She also will spearhead local community and diversity initiatives and interact with various professional organizations.
“Our office provides services to some of the largest public companies in Indianapolis spanning multiple industries, as well as a diverse number of middle-market private companies,” said Boelke. “I’m looking forward to working with our professionals to continue our tradition of rapid growth and providing outstanding service to our clients.”
Boelke will begin in her new role on June 1, the start of Deloitte’s fiscal year.
Boelke has served in a variety of leadership positions in Deloitte offices throughout the country. Most recently, she was the tax managing partner for the Dallas office. She held the same position in Deloitte’s San Jose office and also practiced for nine years in the Indianapolis office. Boelke has an extensive background in providing tax consultation services to publicly owned and pre-IPO companies.
She has also played an active role in her local communities and in Deloitte’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. Previously, she served as the Chairman of the Board for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Indianapolis and served in a leadership position with Deloitte’s Initiative for the Retention and Advancement of Women (WIN), a nationally recognized and award-winning program for the development of women leaders.
Boelke earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a licensed CPA in Indiana, Illinois, Texas and California.
