Former DLA tax partner joins Greenberg Traurig in Silicon Valley
The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is pleased to announce that Christopher R. Haunschild has joined the tax department in the firm’s Silicon Valley office. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, he was with DLA Piper.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Chris to our growing Tax practice. He will be instrumental in helping our clients reach their goals,” stated Matthew Gorson, President of Greenberg Traurig.
Haunschild has practiced international tax law since 1994, focusing on structuring and implementing cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, post-merger and post-acquisition integration, repatriation planning, tax rate reduction, global supply chain restructuring, intellectural property migration, principal company structuring, Subpart F planning and foreign tax credit optimization. He routinely advises U.S. multinational companies on the tax and transfer pricing consequences of their operations and proposed transactions in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
In addition to his technical training, Haunschild possesses a wealth of practical experience. He has served as the Vice President of Global Tax at a Fortune 200 high-tech company in Silicon Valley and has negotiated tax settlements and rulings directly with senior tax officials around the world. Haunschild is sensitive to the financial reporting consequences of tax planning and understands what senior management seeks to achieve from their company’s tax projects.
“We are thrilled that Chris has joined forces with us,” said Heather J. Meeker, Co-Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Silicon Valley office. “He has a great understanding of international tax laws and a wealth of knowledge and experience.”
