Christian Nouel joins Morgan Lewis in Paris
Morgan Lewis today announced that Christian Nouel—a leading tax lawyer with more than 20 years of experience–has joined the firm as a partner in its Tax Practice, resident in Paris.
“At a time when tax enforcement creates complex challenges for companies in Europe and across the globe, Christian’s deep knowledge of French, EU, and international tax regimes is a tremendous asset to our clients,” said Gary Wilcox, head of the firm’s Tax Practice and former Deputy Chief Counsel of the IRS.
Nouel, who was previously the head of the Tax Department in the Paris office of another AmLaw 100 firm, advises on the tax aspects of M&A transactions and the structuring of acquisitions for large companies and private equity funds. In the past 15 months alone, he has been involved in some of the most significant transactions—such as various high-profile LBOs and acquisitions worth billions of dollars—completed on the Paris market. He has advised on transactions across a number of industries and sectors, most notably energy.
“Christian’s arrival not only enhances our tax capabilities, but also continues the growth of our office this year, following the arrival of a litigation team and numerous corporate attorneys,” added Jean Leygonie, Managing Partner of the firm’s Paris office.
Nouel joins a Tax practice that is home to some 40 attorneys in a dozen offices throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, many of whom have been recognized as leading practitioners by Chambers USA, Legal 500, Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Advisors, and other peer and client rankings. The firm’s Tax Practice integrates controversy, consulting and transactional advice to produce practical and efficient solutions to often highly complex tax problems.
