Moore Stephens member firm, Decosimo, appoints John Henegar as firmwide tax director
Member firm Decosimo, a Top 100 regional public accounting and advisory firm headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn., has appointed long-time Tax Principal John Henegar, CPA, CMA, as the firm’s Tax Director. The decision to appoint Mr. Henegar to this post was made when the firm’s former tax director Lynn Rodgers, CPA,relinquished the responsibility and took a temporary sabbatical during the 4th quarter of 2012.
“Decosimo has a strong reputation throughout the region for high-quality tax planning and compliance services,” said Mr. Henegar. “It is an honor to be asked to serve in this leadership role in the firm’s tax practice.”
As firm-wide tax director, Mr. Henegar provides direction for Decosimo’s tax practice including coordination of tax resources across the firm’s nine offices, expanding specialty tax services, supervision of the tax training program for the firm’s professionals and coordination of client-service initiatives. He will continue to provide tax services for his clients of the firm.
Mr. Henegar’s experience in tax practice has spanned more than 35 years. Prior to joining Decosimo in 1999, he served 12 years as an Internal Revenue Service field agent and 12 years as a corporate controller for a construction firm. Currently, he focuses on federal and state tax planning and compliance review for businesses and individuals.
His clients include high-net-worth individuals, privately-held companies and small businesses operating across a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, wholesale, construction, real estate, hospitality, retail and technology.
Mr. Henegar is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its tax section, as well as a member, past director and past treasurer of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also has memberships with the Institute of Management Accountants and Chattanooga Tax Practitioners. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in accounting from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Tennessee and a certified management accountant.
