Michael Velten to join Deloitte to strengthen its South East Asia Tax Practice

Michael Velten, a highly regarded financial services tax expert in Asia, has accepted an offer to join Deloitte. He will be based in the Firm’s Singapore office but operate throughout South East Asia.

Michael is currently Group Head of Tax at CLSA and has 20 years of tax experience in Asia. Previously Michael headed the Goldman Sachs Asia ex Japan Tax Department and was a tax partner in a leading international law firm and Big-4 accounting firm in Singapore, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at the National University of Singapore.

Michael holds Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Taxation degrees from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Laws degree from the National University of Singapore. He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia, a Fellow of CPA Australia, a Fellow (and Certified Tax Adviser) of the Hong Kong Institute of Taxation and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Malaysian Taxation. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association and an executive committee member and past chairman of the IFA Singapore Branch.
