Tersa Dyson joins Deloitte Brisbane and retains her role as Board of Taxation Chair
Deloitte has announced that highly regarded tax advisor Teresa Dyson has agreed to join the firm as a partner effective 1 July. She will balance her current role as the Chair of the Board of Taxation with her new responsibilities, which will include advising clients on infrastructure, financing, corporate tax issues, M&A activity and tax controversy matters.
Prior to joining Deloitte Ms Dyson was a partner in the tax group of global law firm Ashurst, and was appointed to the Board of Taxation in May 2011. She took up her role as chair of the Board of Taxation in January 2013, where she replaced Chris Jordan AO, who had been appointed as the new Federal Commissioner of Taxation.
Ms Dyson was the first woman to head the body which provides advice to the Federal Treasurer on improving the Australian taxation system and better designing tax laws.
Deloitte national tax lead partner Paul Riley, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Teresa to Deloitte. In the Australian tax community it’s hard to find someone who is more highly regarded by the business community, fellow tax professionals and the Government than Teresa. She is a true leader and we are proud that she recognised Deloitte as a firm where she could continue to develop her career and standing in the industry.”
Teresa Dyson said: “I am delighted to be joining the Deloitte tax team in Brisbane. It is an exciting time to join the expanding Queensland office and I look forward to continuing to work closely with clients through the excellent tax advisory group and platform that the broader Deloitte tax team offers.”
Deloitte Queensland Tax leader Stephen Healey said: “Teresa joining our local tax team is a reflection of the continued growth of our Brisbane tax practice, and further evidence of our commitment to Queensland clients by appointing industry leaders to our team.
“Teresa’s particular skills and industry knowledge in the financial services, infrastructure and the resources sectors supplements an already highly specialised team which now includes eight partners,” said Mr Healey.
These recent additions add to an already strong and growing team of Brisbane Deloitte partners, quadrupling the size of the 500 person office in the last eight years. Earlier this year, John Debenham, a former Executive General Manager at Suncorp and a former State Manager for ANZ, was appointed to lead the Deloitte Financial Services practice in Queensland.
