Alejandro M. Ruiz joins Greenberg Traurig from Kirkland & Ellis
Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added shareholder Alejandro M. Ruiz to the Tax Practice Group in San Francisco. Ruiz joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a tax partner in the San Francisco office.
Ruiz focuses his practice on the tax aspects of complex business transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, buyouts, recapitalizations and debt and equity restructurings. Additionally, he has extensive experience in formulating executive compensation arrangements. Ruiz has also assisted in the formation of non-profit organizations and provided on-going counsel to those organizations.

Ruiz, along with Charles Birenbaum who also joined Greenberg Traurig today as the Chair of Northern California from Winston & Strawn, are the most recent hires in Greenberg Traurig’s strategic expansion of its Northern California offices. Other additions include: Litigation shareholder Carolyn McNiven, Tax shareholder Bradley R. Marsh, and Corporate and Securities shareholder R. Bruce Steinert, Jr. in San Francisco; Intellectual Property shareholder William S. Coats in Silicon Valley; and over a half dozen of counsel and associates since January 1, 2013. Greenberg Traurig has five offices and almost 200 attorneys in California.
