Former Nebraska Tax Commissioner joins KPMG as Tax Managing Director
Douglas Ewald has joined KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, as a tax managing director in its State and Local Tax (SALT) Income and Incentives Practice.
Ewald has more than 25 years of experience in corporate taxation, state taxation, tax aspects of financial reporting, and state and local tax incentives. Prior to joining KPMG, he had been Nebraska Tax Commissioner and prior to that, he served as a director of state taxes at Union Pacific Railroad, the largest railroad network in the United States. In this position, he led the overall coordination of Union Pacific’s state tax operations, including budgeting, planning, compliance, tax incentives, audits, state tax appeals, and the tax aspects of financial reporting.

Ewald earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Buena Vista University in Iowa and a Masters of Professional Accounting degree from the University of Nebraska.
