Richard Basuk – New York
Richard Basuk is partner in the New York office of Hogan Lovells and provides legal advice on a full range of federal, state, and local tax issues to corporations, partnerships, and other business entities, as well as to high net-worth individuals.
While in law school, Richard served as an Editor for the New York University Law Review,where his work was published and has since been favorably cited by the courts of New York, including the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court.
Stephen Gordiano – Washington, D.C
Stephen Giordano’s practice encompasses a wide range of U.S. tax matters, with an emphasis on domestic and international transactions involving public and private companies.
Stephen regularly represents both buyers and sellers in connection with taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions across industries. He also represents U.S. and non-U.S. clients in connection with structuring complex cross-border transactions, the formation of investment funds, and issuances of equity, debt, and hybrid securities. As part of his practice, Stephen has acquired extensive experience with the U.S. tax withholding and information reporting requirements that apply to cross-border payments.
Stephen also represents real estate and specialty finance companies (including public and private REITs) in connection with structuring transactions as well as with general tax planning and compliance. His work in this area includes having advised a number of clients on the tax implications of the formation of UPREITs.
Prior to joining Hogan & Hartson in 2005, Stephen was an associate at an international law firm in New York. While in law school, Stephen was a member of The George Washington Law Review.
