James Walker joins Cherry Bekaert as a tax partner in the Richmond office
Cherry Bekaert has hired James (Jamie) K. Walker as a Partner with the Firm’s Tax practice based in Richmond, Virginia.
Walker will focus on meeting the taxation and growth needs of closely-held businesses, professional practices and high-net-worth individuals. He will also offer guidance in specialties like estate and trust matters, pass-thru entities, and entrepreneurial services.
Staff members from Walker’s former practice will join the Firm’s downtown Richmond office and Cherry Bekaert will utilize Walker’s previous office location in the Innsbrook area of Richmond’s West End as an additional location from which Walker and Cherry Bekaert’s staff will continue to serve clients. Nearly 600 of Walker’s clients will be transferred to Cherry Bekaert’s growing client roster.

Walker received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce at the University of Virginia. A licensed Certified Public Accountant, he is linked to professional organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Private Companies Practice Section and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA), where he serves as the Board Chairman of the Political Action Committee (PAC) and was the Past Chairman of the Board and Past President of the Richmond chapter. An active member of the community, Walker is also Vice Chair of the Board for Children Incorporated.
